I started this channel devoted to travel and nature videography a long time ago when I lived in the DC area. Now that I've permanently moved back to Alaska, I'm going to be focusing primarily on life in Alaska.

Ice skating Portage Lake and Glacier
Переглядів 2995 місяців тому
Portage Lake and Glacier 5.5 mile ice skate. This is a very popular activity for locals in the Anchorage area. It's tricky to time this right for skating because the lake freezes later than most lakes and snow often covers the ice soon after it freezes. Hiking and cycling are still options once the snow is on the ice. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.

Flying Alaska Mt. Spurr Volcano
Переглядів 1,2 тис.7 років тому
We had the opportunity take a survey flight over Mt. Spurr in a Diamond 42. We made four passes over the volcano, the best two of which are in this video. We rapidly descended to the Capps glacier below and flew over it's entire length. Mt Spurr is over 11000 feet high, and last erupted in 1992.

Just off of the Cabot trail near Neil's Harbour, White Point is a wonderful short hike to a graveyard for the shipwrecked on a lonely point of rocks. There is a small parking lot just past the 'Two Tittle B & B', From the paved road going to the harbor, make a r...

At the northern tip of Cape Breton lies the small fishing village of Bay St. Lawrence. We spent about a week exploring the Cabot Trail of Cape Breton, but Bay St. Lawrence was our base. We were fortunate enough to be there for the Fish Derby and the Snow Crab Festival which is quite popular on Cape Breton. Most of all we enjoyed the breathtaking views and scenery of the highlands of Nova Scotia...

Love this, hoping to do a watch soon, 2024
Goof is killing it on the drums. So solid.
I know you are mostly definitely not on here anymore but I been seeing these all over eBay but they are in japenese. How would I find one or what would I look for to buy one in English. The japenese that are selling them are telling me they are only in Japanese and there is no language change on the led screen.
Why would you want to o go so far back in technology? I would part with mine. I almost never use it anymore.

😊😊😊AWESOME ANIMALS, SO DEDICATED, AND WILLING TO OBEY REGARDLESS OF THE WEATHER AND WEIGHT OF THE SLED !!!, THEY'LL STILL TRY TILL THERE WORN OUT AND JUST TOO TIRED!!!! WHAT A GREAT WAY TO GET THEM STRONG AND HEATHY WHILE STILL HAVING FUN WITH EACH OTHER AND THE OWNER & THE MUSHER!!!!!!❤❤❤❤ DO THEY DRINK WATER DURING THE RACE OR JUST EAT SNOW FOR IT? CAUSE WATER WOULD BE EXTRA WEIGHT THAT ISN'T REALLY NEEDED!!!!! 🐕🦺🐕🦺🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🐺🐺🐺🐺 I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT YOU COULD HAVE AS MANY DOGS AS YOU LIKE!!!!!!!! 10~20 40¿😅 LONG AS THEY CAN ALL KEEP UP WITH EACH OTHER!!!!!
This lols amazing
Can you do one southbound to show Denali at the 287 mile marker south for 10 miles?

So where the fuck is Cuba Gooding Jr? 🤔
Looks sad
Funny that they are so strong that you have to hold them up on their hind legs to walk them.
cool song
What song is at 3:30??
Question? Do you get the dogs to perform better fed or dead?
ahhhh, an edgelord has entered the thread.
I love this video bout there is just one thing that is really unhealthy. Where they out the dog in kennels- it’s wayyyyyy to small to put TWO dog in that kind of kennels
The musher uses the truck to take them to a location, they do not spend much time in the truck generally speaking. Also a smaller space can be safer if there is an accident because they do not fly around. The dogs are perfectly fine and healthy and taking a trip in the truck is something they are excited about because it means they get to do their favorite thing.
Came here after reading about the nome serum run. Check it out if u r interested in a movie level experience on the historical service of these dogs
Wish I was there!!!❤️
Anyone know why everyone always pick their sled dogs up by the neck rather than just train them like every other dog on the planet? Also those dogs look fabulous. Super toned, nice coats❤ Edit: I used to have an Eskimo that I trained as a kid to sled. Off leash she was trained to follow, lay down, wait etc.
Training one dog is easy. Mushers have 10, 20, 30 dogs who are born and bred to pull and pull hard. Obedience Training even 5 dogs would be impractical. These dogs live outdoors and are not pets in the way your dogs are. These dogs are much much stronger than your pet dogs because they pull sleds. Holding them back is actually hard. By lifting them the way she does she gains an advantage over their strength so she can manage them. It seems harsh perhaps but they don't even notice. They can't wait to get put on the line so they can pull the sled. Thanks for respectful ly asking the question.
@@BlitzAlaska thank you for answering, I was really concerned
Doggos launch at 3:40 Edit: and 5:12
I love this woman who is so good at handling dogs. I absolutely love dogs, I’ve had them my whole life but I have ZERO instinct for training, obedience, etc. I wouldn’t even know where to start!
to train
The only thing that i didnt like as much when you were pulling the white (second) dog by its collar.

WOW, AMAZING💪🐕😍😎
Wow, they are in Alaska and they chow on ice because they are hot. I pity these dogs having to live in a tropical countries
After riding of you guys dogs show given their space our free time to explore themselves and have some fun
Yes they are give free time and being taken care of. Remember that huskies love doing work so they really love what they’re doing
I can ensure all of you - this is an amazing feeling and experience!
Imagine we do this everywhere instead of cars these days. It’ll be pretty cool.
from what I have heard, it's all calm until you say the sacred word "M u s h"
If you think about it the dogs really don't have to be that bulky they just need a lot of stamina. Once the sled gets going it's not too hard for the dogs to pull along as its momentum carries it over the flat snow pretty easy.
Plus that they love doing work
How do they tell the dog to turn left, turn right, stop, faster??
Gee - Command for right turn. Haw - Command for left turn. Come gee! Come haw! - Command for 180-degree turns in either direction. Line out! - Command for lead dog to pull the team out straight from the sled (mostly used when hooking or unhooking dogs). Mush! Let's go! All right! Hike! - Various commands to get the dog team going. Trail! - Shouted to oncoming mushers or snowmobile users to request right-of-way on the trail. Whoa! - Command used to halt the team.
@@BlitzAlaska omg verbal comment? If there's any noise then things won't be so good
@@abraham8178 nah a musher can yell pretty loud. It works well enough. The lead dog is the one that listens and takes commands well.
@@BlitzAlaska I see. I tought they work like horse, but now I know that it's voice based. Thank you!
I wish I could do this
So awesome to see dogs enjoy doing what they were bred to do

Dude, do you know Joanna Jagow?
I do not. I drove by Two Rivers last week though. It sounds like she is a strong up and coming musher and it's great to see young mushing joining the sport.
